We've had some subzero temperatures lately, Madison. Nothing a hot beverage won't fix, right? Why not warm up with a hot toddy? Our Food and Beverage Outlets Manager, Dustin, has shared his recipe for the Hot Toddy we serve here in-house off of our winter cocktail menu so you can make it at home:
INGREDIENTS
1 cinnamon stick
4 cloves
1 star anise
2 lemon wheels
2 oz honey/lemon syrup
1 oz Drambuie
1 oz Bulleit
Hot water
Start by adding the cinnamon stick, cloves, and star anise to a mug. Then, add the lemon wheels—either dehydrated or fresh. Dehydrated lemons provide a rustic feel and concentrated lemon flavor. Next, mix honey and lemon syrup, made by combining equal parts honey and lemon juice. To thin the honey, add a little hot water before mixing it with the lemon juice. Pour in an ounce of Bulleit Bourbon, followed by an ounce of Drambuie, which complements the cocktail with its scotch base and notes of heather honey, herbs, and spices. Finally, top with hot water and let the drink steep for a few minutes to extract all the flavors from the spices.
If you're downtown, you can always stop into The Bar at the hotel to try one for yourself.
The Bar is open 4-8 PM for dinner.
Drinks are available until 11 PM Sunday-Wednesday, 12 AM Thursday-Saturay.
