Whether it’s your first time or your 100th time going to a Badger Game, there’s always time to try something new. We’ve compiled a list of our favorite eats, drinks, tailgates and everything in between to help you find your best game-day experience.

Tailgating

If you brought your own grill and setup, it’s a good idea to start looking for your parking spot at least 3.5 hours before the game (though you will find people already tailgating much earlier than that). Give yourself enough time to set up and enjoy the experience. The closer to the stadium, the more likely the parking lot won’t allow grills. Drive down Regent Street to scope out available lots and have cash ready.

To Drive or Not To Drive?

Street traffic going towards Camp Randall Stadium can get very unpredictable, but if you are leaving from the hotel, we do have a courtesy shuttle available for guests. Depending on your plans, you may also end up walking and making fun stops along the way (more on that below). Calling a rideshare service or taxi can also be tricky, as wait times can vary in addition to traffic congestion. UW also offers shuttles to different parking lots through Badger Bus.

Step By Step

If it’s a nice day (hooray!) and you are up for the exercise, the walk from downtown to Camp Randall Stadium is a good 20 minutes if not more. The Dane County Farmers' Market is a great way to start your morning! From there you can head down State Street towards Regent Street.

Places to Stop Along the Way

State Street Brats A game day staple for burgers and brats. They have lots of TVs for those not going to the game, but who still want to watch.

Greenbush Bakery A morning treat with your morning coffee on your way to the stadium!

Mickie’s Dairy Bar A popular cash-only brunch spot with plentiful portions. Be prepared to come early and wait in line!

Jordan’s Big 10 Pub A popular pre-game tailgate spot with a large parking lot party. Drinks are served from 4 different bars!

Lucky’s 1313 For those who don’t want to spend extra time outside, this spacious indoor bar also serves food and drinks near all the action on Regent Street.

Badger Bash at Union South The festivities begin two and a half hours before each home game. This is a family-friendly event with indoor and outdoor food and drinks, as well as performances by the Spirit Squad and the UW Marching Band. Admission is free!

What To Bring

Don’t forget to wear your favorite Badger gear, and make sure you know about UW’s clear bag policy. Bring only what you need!
