Stroll Along Lakeshore

If you continue strolling past iconic State Street, right behind Memorial Union is the Lakeshore Path. This iconic walking and biking path is very flat and offers great views of Lake Mendota. This is also the way to reach Picnic Point, a popular mile-long peninsula on Lake Mendota’s south shore with reservable fire circles. Get your steps in or rent a BCycle during the warmer months!

Boulders Climbing Gym

Try something new together! Boulders Climbing Gym hosts fun events such as Yoga for Climbers and Lights Out -- a nighttime event with climbing in the dark. This is a newly opened location right downtown, so you can walk there in just 7 minutes from our hotel! If you are too tired afterward, you could always call the shuttle for a ride back home.

The Sylvee

The Sylvee is an exciting new concert venue a just short walk or shuttle ride away. This year’s diverse lineup features talents old and new including Dustin Lynch, Rufus du Sol, Wilco, Foreigner, and Third Eye Blind. Weather permitting, this makes a nice stroll to and from our hotel for a night out and live music.

Tour the Wisconsin State Capital

The Wisconsin State Capitol features the largest granite dome in the world. Free tours are offered daily, and there is a sixth-floor museum and observation deck open during the summer. The observation deck offers great views of the lakes and the city. This would be a cool educational experience to learn about the history of one of our state’s landmarks. There is also a replica of the Liberty Bell inside. Can you find all the naturally occurring fossils embedded into the marble?
